On Civilian Protection This Week: Five Must-Read Pieces

January 12, 2012

Here are five written works with implications for the protection of civilians that you might want to sit down and read this week. They’d also make for good reading over the upcoming long weekend.

  1. Middle East and North Africa: Protest and repression set to continue in 2012 from Amnesty International
  2. Almost 1 In 3 U.S. Warplanes Is a Robot from Danger Room (their analysis and the report from Congressional Research Service)
  3. What it Will Take to Intervene in Syria from Foreign Affairs (available online for free)
  4. (Subscription) Humanitarian Intervention Comes of Age: Lessons From Somalia to Libya from Foreign Affairs (November/December 2011)
  5. (Subscription) The True Costs of Humanitarian Intervention: The Hard Truth About a Noble Notion from Foreign Affairs (November/December 2011)

I know the last two are a bit older (and require spending money or finding a library), but they are definitely worth reading.
